personal project:
teaching artist book design
During my college days, I minored in Teaching Artistry, and had the opportunity to work with a number of schools. One of my favorite projects was with Little Village Academy in Little Village, Chicago, IL. Students were assigned to compile a list of locations in their neighborhood that coordinate with a letter of the alphabet. Since this is a multi-lingual community, locations and answers could be in Spanish or English. During this exercise, students exemplified language comprehension, artistic ability, and communication skills.
This assignment was in partnership with Columbia College Chicago’s Interdisciplinary Learning in the Arts course, taught by Cynthia Weiss.
